Quick Matcha Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies

These Quick Matcha Milk Chocolate Cookies are made with matcha green tea powder and loaded with milk chocolate chips. And they take less than 20 minutes to make!

Matcha is Japanese green tea powder that has become quite popular in the US due to its many health benefits and great flavor. Matcha is very high in antioxidants and is said to boost memory and concentration, increases energy levels, burn calories and detoxify the body. I’m not sure exactly how these health benefits translate when you bake it into chocolate chip cookies…

Matcha is an acquired taste and can be too strong of a flavor for some. I really love it in all forms, but if you are just being introduced to matcha, having it in a baked good, like these Matcha Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies is a great way to try it out. The flavor is still very present, but it’s a little sweeter than you may find matcha in a latte or other drink.

I rarely choose milk chocolate over dark, but with the strong, earthy flavor of the matcha I felt it made the best compliment and I don’t suggest substituting!

The best part about these cookies? They are so quick! The dough comes together in just a few minutes and they bake up in only 10-12 minutes. There is no need to refrigerate the dough prior to baking!

This recipe is so good! Chewy, yet crisp… just the way I like it. First time I try baking cookies using matcha powder and instead of using chocolate chips I chopped a WHITE and milk CHOCOLATe bar. Yum!
