Easy Homemade Apple Butter – Slow Cooker

Description

The perfect compliment to toast, muffins or a sandwich, this apple butter is easy to make and keeps in the refrigerator up to 3 weeks!


Ingredients

Scale

4 cups apples, peeled and chopped

1/3 cup honey

1/2 cup dark brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

dash of sea salt


Instructions

Peel and chop 4 cups worth of apples

To the bowl of your slow cooker add honey and brown sugar

Add apples, stir to coat in honey and brown sugar

Add vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice and salt, mix

Set the slow cooker to “low” and cook for 6 hours

Turn the slow cooker off and remove the lid

Allow the apple butter to cool for about 10 minutes

Using an immersion blender* blend apple butter until smooth or desired consistency is reached

Put in a jar and store in the refrigerator up to 3 weeks

Notes

*If you don’t have an immersion blender you can transfer the apple butter to a blender or food processor for this step
