These Peanut Butter Surprise Kiss Cookies are perfect for Santa, a Hershey’s Kiss hidden inside a delicious peanut butter cookie dusted with powdered sugar.
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He’s checking it twice”
… you know the rest.
But really, we all know Santa is in it for the cookies.
What are you making for him this year?! Let’s surprise him! Everyone likes surprises! Even Santa!
I asked him and he told me so!
For a few years when I was little we were leaving all sorts of things for everyone in the Santa universe… Santa, the Reindeers, Mrs. Clause, the Elves… no one could be left out! Carrots for the reindeers of course and then one year some sort of magic reindeer dust or something? Something really glittery is all I remember… my poor Mom, haha.
Who am I kidding, she loved it 😉
These Peanut Butter Surprise Kiss Cookies are like muddy buddies and peanut butter blossoms got together and had a love child. A Hershey’s Kiss hidden away inside a delicious peanut butter cookie coated in a powdered sugar. What’s not to love?! It’s like each cookie is a little Christmas Miracle!
These would be so much fun to make with kids! Getting to hide secret kisses for Santa?! Precious 🙂
Tips for Making Peanut Butter Surprise Kiss Cookies
Ideally you will want to refrigerate the dough for about 1 hour. If you end up making the dough farther in advance, that’s ok, just take it out about 30 minutes before you want to start making the cookies so it will soften a bit.
Unwrap the kisses prior to starting to work with the dough. Your hands will be a sticky mess and it will be hard to open them as you’re working.
Use clean hands to work the dough and wrap it around the kiss. It takes a little bit of work to get the kiss fully covered inside the dough and the dough rolled into a clean ball. Just keep working it!
The recipe calls to make 24 cookies, that will obviously depend on the size of your cookie balls. They are meant to be just a bit larger than the kiss to make sure it is covered and doesn’t ooze out of the cookie when baked.
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup white sugar, divided
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
24 Hershey Kisses (dark or milk chocolate), unwrapped
2 tbsp confectioners’ sugar
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, peanut butter and 1/2 cup sugar until smooth and fluffy, 2-3 minutes
Add eggs 1 at a time
Add vanilla extract, mix
Slowly add flour and salt, mix until fully combined
Refrigerate dough at least 1 hour

With clean hands work the dough and form it around each kiss, roll into a ball, you should not be able to see any part of the kiss
Pour the remaining 1/4 cup sugar into a small bowl
Roll the dough balls in the sugar to coat
Place the kiss wrapped, sugar coated dough balls on 2 parchment lined baking sheet (12 cookies on each sheet)
Bake 12-15 minutes
