10 Minute Peach Mango Salsa

Oh peach season, how I love you!

This fresh, summer salsa is sweet, zesty, fresh and incredibly simple to make! It’s great as a dip with tortilla chips and it’s also perfect served on top of grilled chicken or fish!

What will I need for 10 Minute Peach Mango Salsa?

The actual making of this salsa is no more than cutting up the ingredients and tossing them together in a bowl. What you should focus on is making sure you are picking out the freshest ingredients to make the most delicious salsa possible.

Peaches – The peaches should be ripe and juicy! During peach season look for the peaches that when you press on them give just a little bit. If they are too hard and don’t give at all they are not ripe enough, if they are so mushy you feel like you could put your finger right through the skin then they are over ripe.

Mango – Same goes for the mango as the peaches in terms of how to pick it out. I find it harder to pick out a perfect mango just by look and feel, so you may want to pick up more than 1 just in case one doesn’t work out.

Avocado – I like to think of the avocado as a step before it’s guacamole ready. It should be ripe enough that there is a nice green ring around the outside when you open it up, but not so ripe that it would fall apart with the gentle press of a fork. You want the avocado pieces to stay intact when they are added to the salsa.

Red Onion – The red onion adds a nice crunch and a little zesty flavor.

Jalapeño – Add the jalapeño with the seeds for a spicy salsa, remove the seeds for mild and if you really can’t take the heat, leave it out all together!

Cilantro – Fresh cilantro adds a nice, balancing flavor.

Lime Juice/Zest – The lime juice and zest serves 2 purposes, first, it helps to keep the avocado and the peaches from turning brown. Second, it gives the salsa a subtle zesty, fresh flavor.

Olive Oil and Salt – The fruits give this salsa so much flavor on their own it really doesn’t need much in terms of additional seasoning. Just a little bit of olive oil and salt help enhance the flavors and bring everything together.

Can I Make It Ahead?

This salsa is great for bringing to or serving at a party. I suggest making it no more than 1 day in advance of when you are going to serve it. Because of the lime juice, the avocado will keep fine and not turn brown as long as you keep it refrigerated in an air tight container. After 24 hours things start to get a little mushy and the salsa won’t taste as fresh.

Ideally, my favorite time to enjoy this salsa is about 2 hours after it has been prepared, I like it cold and giving it a little bit of time to marinate enhances the flavors. However, it absolutely can be eaten right away after preparing!
