How to make Fresh Dill Salmon Salad:

It’s easy-peasy. Start off by baking the salmon with salt and lemon juice. This only take 10-12 minutes. After the salmon is baked you will let it cool and then shred it with a fork. The salmon will be tender and flakey and shred easily.

Once the salmon is shredded put it in a large bowl, add red onion, capers and fresh dill, toss everything together. Lastly you will add the dressing, mix together mayonnaise, lemon juice, dijon mustard, salt and coriander and then add that mixture to the salmon and mix it all up!

Store it in an airtight container in the fridge – that’s it!

Should I use fresh or canned salmon?

You will be happier with fresh salmon that you bake yourself. If you follow this recipe you bake the salmon in salt and lemon which gives it great flavor. I have tried lots of canned salmon and I haven’t found one that I am in love with. When I make tuna, I always use canned, but for salmon salad you are better off with the real deal.

Why fresh dill?

Why not?! Fresh dill is easily accessible in most grocery stores year round and it is 10 times more flavorful than dried dill! Using fresh dill really elevates the salad, I can’t recommend it enough!

How should I eat Fresh Dill Salmon Salad?

With a spoon, ha! It is good on it’s own, but what I love about it is there are so many ways to enjoy it! You could have it for lunch all week and eat it a different way every day so you never get bored!

My favorite way to eat it is pictured below – in an avocado! Slice an avocado in half, remove the pit. Sprinkle the avocado with some salt and lemon juice, Fill each half with a heaping portion of salmon salad. Eat with a spoon, grabbing a bite of avocado with each bite!

Other ideas include topping a simple salad with a heaping portion of fresh dill salmon salad. Eating it on toast, in a sandwich or on a bagel. You can even eat it as a dip with crackers and fresh veggies!
